In todayís world of me, me, me many families fall apart. Thatís the story in the family film Forever My Girl. Liam Page (Alex Roe, (Hot Summer Nights, The 5th Wave) left his wife to be Josie Preston (Jessica Rothe, (Happy Death Day, La La Land) at the altar in St. Augustine Louisiana to pursue a career as a country singer.
Itís now eight years later and Liam has reached his goal as heís a superstar with a well-known band. He and gets a call from his dad, a local pastor, to come home and attended one of Liamís friends funeral. Tired but needing to go he gets an ok from his manager and heads home.
He stays at his dadís house and gets more of the father Ėson advice then Liam expected. A few trips around town and he notices heís getting a lot of unfriendly stares from the townís people. Naturally in a small town it was obvious he would run into Josie and he does.
Jessica is wonderful portraying Josie and at the first glimpse of Liam her facial expression mirrors the one on her face when she was told he was not coming to their wedding. (At the same time he had a call and on shot to join the band, which he took without talking to Josie.)
Itís not long before Liam discovers there is a small girl named Billy (Abby Ryder Forston) that is always with Josie. Could it possibly be his daughter? He approaches Josie and although she has conversations with him, is still a little icy and holding back anything she feels for Liam.
Bethany Ashton Wolf adapted and wrote the screenplay of Forever My Girl written by boo author Heidi McLaughlin. Wolf also directs. The story is interesting through the changes of Josie, Liam, and Pastor Brian (John Benjamin Hickey) Liamís Dad.
The filmís love story also resonated with Wolf. ďI wouldnít say Iím a hopeless romantic ó I think Iím a hopeful romantic,Ē she said. ďI think love is at the heart of everything that we do as human beings. So whatever story Iím telling Iíll always infuse love and romance into it because everything we do in life involves that universal feeling and emotion.Ē
The sweetest part of this film involves music, forgiveness, laughter and love, and wow can Abby sing and play a guitar! Forever My Girl is a great film for families, young adults and teens.
